Have you ever wondered what the ten cutest animals are? Then this article is for you. Below are my opinions on the 10 cutest animals as featured in the article, “The Top 10 Cutest Animals in the World” by Rebecca Bales. I hope you enjoy learning some fun facts from Rebecca’s AZ blog and my thoughts too!
The Red Panda
“The Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) is native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. The Red Panda is a beautiful creature, but it’s more related to a raccoon than a fox or a giant panda.”
I think this animal is cute because it looks like a red version of a baby panda. I think the Red Panda made it on this list because it’s a different species and it’s endangered.
The Pygmy Marmoset
I actually don't think this animal is cute. But, I think it's on the list because it is tiny and small enough to hold.
“The Pygmy Marmoset (Callithrix pygmaea) is a tiny New World monkey that lives in the rainforests of South America. Pygmy Marmosets live in Ecuador, Brazil, Columbia, parts of Bolivia.”
Axolotl
“The Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) or Mexican walking fish is related to the tiger salamander. It’s actually a reptile not a fish, sadly the Axolotl is still endangered but breeding programs have had success in restoring its populations to Mexican lakes.”
I don’t like this animal here either. I wouldn't even want it as a pet. The Axolotl probably made it on the list because of the reptile lovers.
Hedgehog
I think the hedgehog made it on the list because it ‘s way cuter than its relative the porcupine.
“The Hedgehog (Erinaceusis) is a member of the Erinaceinae family. There are fifteen species of hedgehogs and this critter lives in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Hedgehogs were introduced in New Zealand and there are no living hedgehog species native to Australia or North America.”
I like hedgehogs because of Sonic, The Hedgehog. I think his movie is a great movie, by the way.
Chevrotain
“The Chevrotain (Tragulidae) is also known as the mouse deer. Chevrotains are native to the warmer parts of Southeast Asia, India, and parts of Africa. There are several species of chevrotains and they’re all tiny. The smallest chevrotain is the Malay and the largest is the water Chevrotain.”
Real talk: I don’t like the Chevrotain because it looks like a knockoff deer like Bambi. I think the Chevrotain made it on the list because of its big black eyes.
The Meerkat
“The Meerkat (Suricata suricatta) is not a cat. It's actually a small mongoose. A regular animal seen in southern Africa, is known for having enormous eyes and a long tail.”
I think this animal is cute because it looks like a stuffed animal. Maybe the Meerkat made it on this list because it has its own TV show?
Fennec Fox
I like the Fennec Fox because it's cute and has big ears.
“The Fennec Fox (Vulpes zerda) is a small fox that lives in the Sahara Desert. Its big ears help it shed heat, which is how it can survive in those hot climates. Also, the Fennec Fox feeds on small birds, rodents, fruits, and reptiles.”
Sea Otter
“The Sea Otter (Enhydra lutris) is a marine mammal native to the coasts of the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. About ninety percent of the world’s sea otters live in Alaska. Sadly, sea otters were hunted to near extinction, which makes them endangered.”
I like sea otters because they are fluffy and play together. I wonder if the Sea Otter made the list because they are most seen in aquariums.
The Quokka
I think the Quokka is cute because it looks like a stuffed animal.
“The Quokka (Setonix brachyurus) is known as the short-tailed scrub Wallaby. The Quokka is nocturnal and carries its young in its pouch. The only place Quokkas live is in Rottnest Island off the coast of Australia. They have become so popular that they are now a tourist attraction”. I think that’s why they made the list.
Black-Footed Cat
“The Black-Footed Cat (Felis nigripes), also called the small spotted cat, is the smallest wild cat in Africa and one of the smallest wild cats in the world. It has black or dark brown feet and a gorgeous, black and silver spotted coat. The black-footed cat is nocturnal and preys on birds, small rodents and occasionally rabbits.”
I like the Black-Footed Cat because it’s fierce and strong.
