An Acai bowl is a delicious meal! It is served as a smoothie in a bowl or glass. It's a great breakfast dish, after workout smoothie for cooling down, or a great treat on a hot summer day. Acai is also known as the Açaí na tigela - a Brazilian specialty from Pará and Amazonas. This recipe is made from frozen mashed fruit, and you can add toppings such as fruits, nuts, granola, seeds, and, if you want a sweet finish, you can add natural honey or syrup on top. An acai bowl can be an option that provides a lot of vitamins and nutrients you need thanks to all that fruit.


Let’s talk about how you can make one at home! Fun fact: if you want to make one serving for yourself, certain blends may allow you to attach a mason jar and screw the jar closed.


Recipe

Equipment you will need:

  • A good quality blender( I will be using an Oster blender)

  • Mason jar or bowl

  • Spoon or straw (depending on how thick your smoothie bowl is)


Ingredients you will need: 

  • Milk ( any type of milk will work whether it’s plant-based or cow milk)

  • Frozen fruit of your choice (I chose strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries)

  • Greek Yogurt (preferably plain because the fruit will add the flavor!)

  • Toppings of your choice (I chose chia seeds, Flaxseed, almonds, and honey)


Instructions:

  • Start out by pouring 2 splashes of milk to your blender (if you want your smoothie bowl looser you can add more)

  • Next, you want to add 2 dollops of greek yogurt to blender. (For a softer and smooth consistency add more)

  • Add about half a cup of frozen fruit of your choice to your blender (if the smoothie is very loose you can add more).

  • Blend for about 3 minutes max. In between blends, check your smoothie. If you have more frozen fruit getting stuck at the bottom, move it to the top using a spoon. 

  • Shake in between blending. If your smoothie is too thick repeat steps 1 and 2. If it is to loose, repeat step 2 and 3, or add ice.

  • When your smoothie is the consistency you want, pour it into your bowl or mason jar.

  • Now your smoothie is ready to be topped. Add any toppings you want!


Now that you're done you can enjoy your flavorful bowl.
