Fireflies
Flickering through the skies
One after another
A beautiful light in the darkness of night
How long will they stay?
Till the morning sun rises?
A helpful friend to brighten up the night
I wish they’d stay all year,
But with each passing season
They’d come and go
Why for such a short time?
But when they are here
It’s as if time has stopped
As if I could reach the stars
Their beauty is unmatched by anything
Though no beauty lasts forever
The season will change
And their beauty will fade away
For those few seasons that they are away
I will keep them in my heart
Their beauty will never leave me
And when those dark nights come
The beauty of their lights will always stay with me
