Hello Hamilton fans! Ever wonder what happened to those awesome performers from the original cast of Hamilton? I’ve compiled a list below from details that I found online. Read and let me know in the article comments if you have heard any updates!
Lin-Manuel Miranda has taken this world by storm. One of his biggest and most recent displays as an artist was the musical Hamilton. In 2015 on September 15th he released the hip hop sensation about one of America’s founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton. Lin directed and starred in it as the lead role. Although he did a lot as the talented person he is, he couldn’t have done it himself. He had help from many of his original co-stars, including, but not limited to: Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Schuyler), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Jasmine Cephas Jones (Maria Reynolds), Jonathan Groff (King George), Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Okieriete Onaodowan (A.K.A O, Hercules Mulligan and James Madison), and Anthony Ramos (John Laurens and Philip Hamilton). Of course, all of them have retired as Hamilton actors and went on to further explore their talents. The only question that rest on fans’ minds is: “Where are they now?”
Leslie Odom Jr.:
(Aaron Burr) Prior to buying his own recording studio he won a Tony for his role in Hamilton. In 2016 he released his album "Simply Christmas". He recently became a father with his wife. As fans we know he will go on to do great things.
Daveed Diggs:
(Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson)
Diggs has become a sensation in Hollywood. First playing a role in ABC's Black-ish, then occurring in season 3 of Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He wrote and starred in his own movie Blind Spotting. He plays Dos in the animated children's film Ferdinand. He has done a tremendous job jump starting his career. We know there is more to come.
Phillipa Soo:
(Eliza Schuyler)
After leaving Hamilton Phillipa played the lead role in Amelie. Then went on to provide vocals for Moana. She married actor Steven Pasquale. She has been working on some Broadway shows such as The Parisian Woman. Soo is making a title for herself.
Renee Elise Goldsberry:
(Angelica Schuyler)
After winning a Tony for her role in Hamilton she went on to star in Oprah's The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks as the lead role. She then worked on a production A House with a Clock in its Walls. Like all of the former Hamilton actors, she has been busy.
Jasmine Cephas Jones:
(Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds)
The last original to leave Hamilton joined her Schuyler Sisters in singing the Star- Spangled Banner. She then starred in Diggs' film Blind Spotting.
Jonathan Groff:
(King George)
Since off Hamilton he filmed to HBO movie Looking. He is now showing off his talents a an actor in Netflix's Mindhunter. He played the voice of Kristoff in the spin-off of Frozen - Olaf's Frozen Adventure. Looks like he is making it in the world of fame.
Christopher Jackson:
(George Washington)
Jackson was filming CBS' Bull while on Broadway in Hamilton until he took off to do Bull alone in 2016 on November 13. He is also yet another Hamilton actor to work in vocals for Moana. He played Chef Tui and showcased the opening number of the song "Where you Are."
Oke Onaodowan:
(Hercules Mulligan and James Madison)
Hamilton put Onaodowan on the map. He starred as the lead role as Pierre in the musical Natasha, Pierre and the Comet of 1812. He made it in a Grey's Anatomy spin-off about Seattle firefighters. The public knows he continue to grow as an entertainer.
Anthony Ramos:
(John Laurens and Philip Schuyler)
Ramos is another star that is rising especially in Hollywood. He played in the reboot of Will and Grace as Grace's new assistant Tony. He also starred in Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It on Netflix. In 2018 he came to the TV in A Star Is Born. In 2019 he will act as the role of Corporal Martinez in Godzilla: King of Monsters.
