Steps to
Applying to Colleges:
Step 1: Figure out what you want to major in. It
helps to do this first, because it helps you chose the schools that you want to attend. You can use collegemajors101 or collegeboard.org to help with
this.
Step 2: Make a college list. Not necessarily a final
list, but a list of places you want to attend. Some of the scholarship websites listed below can help you make
your college list.
Step 3: Try to visit a lot of schools even if you
don’t want to go to them, because you may go to a college that you really like that
wasn’t on your list.
Step 4: Research the colleges you want to attend. Research the heck out of them because this info will come in handy later when it’s
time to write your college essays. Also, research to see if the schools you want
to apply to have scholarships, because you will have to apply early for these awards.
Step 5: Now make your final school list.
Step 6: Make a list of your high school clubs, activities, and
achievements. Write your essays. Get your recommendations.
Step 7: Apply to your colleges.
Note: Don’t
wait until the last minute to do your applications for college.
Scholarships:
If you don’t want to be in a lot of debt when
you get out of college, then scholarships are a must for you.
